Township Tour (Port Elizabeth)

This is a tour of Nelson Mandela Bay’s townships. We aim to provide an opportunity for our customers to experience an everyday life in the township. We look at the history behind the establishment of townships, the socio-economic conditions of townships, the culture of amaXhosa and developments taking place in the townships. The area is home to San, Khoikhoi, Xhosa, Dutch, English and German descendants. Fierce wars that would later shape the history of South Africa were fought in this area. We visit remains of forts that are evidence of the wars fought here. We also look at the positive contribution made by each of the different groups to the development of the region.

The tour costs R1200 per person for a minimum of 3 people. The total duration of the tour is 7-8 hours. Lunch and refreshments are included in the fee.
